You’ll come a Waltzing Matilda with me..

So for our Australia Day this year I’m going to need one of these:

It’s going to be wet, wet, wet here on the East Coast of Queensland tomorrow. But that’s ok we’re busily tracking down some kind of outdoor shelter that is waterproof so we can carry on with our festivities regardless of rain, hail or shine.

Australian Designers do some pretty great stuff…

Like Gorman for instance. Perfect attire for a rainy day party right?

Just like Arabella Ramsay, I, too, will be going for the drenched and dishevelled look tomorrow styled naturally by Mother Nature.

The floral design makes me proud to be an aussie.  She also did this with bottlebrush:

I’ll have some of that jumbuck get-up in my tucker bag! They’re almost worth drowning for don’t you think?

Anyhow one last thing just to make sure your guests are comfortable tomorrow while they are sitting around drinking xxxx or some banrock station in my case, from bonnie and neil:

I’m a huge fan of the name Matilda also, so I found this very interesting from Wikipedia:

“The National Library of Australia states:

Matilda is an old Teutonic female name meaning ‘mighty battle maid’. This may have informed the use of ‘Matilda’ as a slang term to mean a de facto wife who accompanied a wanderer. If the wet weather is just going to be too much for you to be engaging in any outdoor activities tomorrow then may I suggest you grab a copy of “My Brilliant Career” by Miles Franklin, either the book or the DVD for old times sake? Such a classic and oh so colonial Australia.
